4 Tips to Building Your Non-Fiction Fan Base With Facebook Live

4 Tips to Building Your Non-Fiction Fan Base With Facebook Live

Posted by Arthur Gutch on Fri, May 06, 2016 @ 12:07 PM

Building a non-fiction readership is all about becoming an expert in your field. The more you make yourself the go-to person for questions in your niche, the more books you're likely to sell. One of the best new tools you can use is Facebook's new streaming video tool, Facebook Live. This allows you to broadcast live video right onto your Facebook wall. Fans will see your live broadcast and can ask questions right while you're speaking, making for a great interactive experience between you and your readers. It's absolutely free, making it one book marketing tool you can't afford to pass up Facebook_live_infinity_Publishing_author.jpg.
How to Use Facebook Live
You'll need an Android or Apple mobile device to stream from. For now, this program doesn't support webcams. Open the status bar on your Facebook page as if you wanted to make a post. You'll find an icon of a human being -- that's the live button. Click on this button to prep your livestream. Choose who you want to see the stream -- everyone on Facebook, only friends, or just you -- and write a description for your livestream. Press the OK button and you're streaming live.
Preparation
You won't do any good just randomly deciding to post a livestream on an odd Thursday afternoon. Begin by choosing a day and time when you think many of your readers will be home and online. Advertise your livestream by posting multiple times on Facebook the day before and the same day. This allows fans to adjust their schedules to include time to watch you. Include a teaser in your posts to interest people in watching your livestream.
What to Livestream
As a non-fiction author you've got a distinct advantage when it comes to material to share with your fans. Do a weekly Q & A session about your niche. If you write about container gardening, cover one plant or planting technique each week. Put your device on a tripod and do live demonstrations, allowing a few minutes at the end of the show for questions. Talk about exciting discoveries you've made in your niche, or do a live survey with your readers about their opinion on some controversial topic in your subject. Every niche has got something that everyone's talking about. Why not lead that discussion?
Tips for Great Livestreams
Plan to stream for 5-7 minutes. It's enough time to allow questions, but not so much that you bore the always-moving Facebook crowd. facebook_live.jpg
Remind viewers to follow you so that they can get notified about future livestreams. Mention this once at the beginning of your show, and once near the end.
Add information and links to the livestream on your website and your other social media accounts.
Vary the setting of your livestreams if possible. Take your viewers on mini field trips. Let them see your knowledge about the subject matter in a different way besides books.
Keep the Faith and May the Force be with You!

Live streaming has been around....Grow Your Business in 2016

Live streaming has been around since the dawn of social media. Last spring, Periscope and Meerkat released. With one of these accounts, users can create a live mobile broadcast and stream live video and audio to viewers. Mobile live streaming is expected to grow even more in 2016 and it’s easier than ever to apply it your marketing strategy.

How can this benefit your business?

For starters, it’s a great way to give your followers a closer look into who you are as a brand and offer exclusive insights and behind the scene footage.

With a live stream app, connecting the audience to the brand is made possible by showcasing a live event, offering training on a product, or giving a look behind the scenes at your office. Several companies have used live streaming video to take a walking tour to show everything that goes into make the product or service a reality.

Aside from a visual look, these videos are live and consumers have the opportunity to comment and ask questions, offering tools for real engagement.

Right now, there are two major apps in the marketplace: Meerkat and Periscope. They’re quite similar at the core and deciding between the two is about user preference.

Meerkat
  • iOS and Google Play
  • Links to Twitter account and followers
  • Schedule broadcasts for a later date, to let people know exact details of when to tune in
  • Automatically links live stream to a tweet
  • Saves streams to phone, but doesn’t offer off-line viewing
  • Offers interaction features during the stream via Twitter

Periscope
  • iOS and Google Play
  • Links to Twitter account, where you can choose your followers
  • Suggests people to follow
  • Instantly live, no scheduling capability.
  • Users have to share live streams to other platforms
  • Auto-saves broadcasts to watch replays, even off-line
  • Offers interaction features during the stream directly on Periscope

FAQ 2 Increase Local Traffic with a Lead Capture Page

Increase Local Traffic with a Lead Capture Page!
FAQ 2 - How can I increase local traffic by using lead capture pages on the web?

The Marketing Paradigm has shifted. Nearly all consumers (97%) now use online media when researching products or services. The misconception is that only young people use these technologies when in fact, nearly all of the buying public now uses them.

Marketing has also shifted from a one-way broadcast to a multi-point conversation. In the past, communications were “broadcast” exclusively through mass marketing channels like radio, TV and newspapers. However with social media,  much of the communication is controlled by the prospects through services like Facebook and Twitter, which have more than 700 million members combined. Additionally, YouTube, gets 300 million visitors a month.

Mobile Marketing Magic: Making the Most of the Hot New Trend by Penny C. Sansevieri

The term "mobile" tends to confuse a lot of business owners. Questions pop up like "Do I really need it?", "Is my site mobile ready?" and, "What do consumers expect from mobile?" Deciding to go mobile is, for many, no longer an option. With staggering numbers of people accessing content on their mobile phones, mobile is a must. I asked Tania Mulry of DDx Media to spend some time breaking mobile down for us.
Q: Why is mobile marketing so important today?
Admit it. Your mobile phone is a remote control for your life. No other form of media can compare to its power in your life. It is your most personal device, and you almost never share it, unlike TVs, radios, newspapers, magazines and computers. Your mobile phone is always on, always with you and most likely, you even sleep next to it!
According to Wireless Intelligence, there are over 6.4 billion mobile connected devices in the world as of this writing. Considering the world population just crossed 7 billion, that's pretty amazing! A survey conducted by the Cellular Telephone Industry Association (CTIA) determined that 92 percent of Americans simply do not leave the house without their cell phones.

How to use the Internet to increase Local Traffic - Online Business Search

Video Marketing Strategy 2013 | Increase Your Video Traffic Formula

By now you probably should have your own YouTube Channel, making videos consistently and increasing your revenue as a YouTube star right? Not exactly how you think YouTube marketing with videos actually is. In this post I am going to share a video marketing strategy in 2013 that will clean up your old and new videos.

One of the challenges I faced before getting noticed on YouTube as a partner was how to get targeted traffic. Some of you making videos and putting up whatever you want or feel like talking about is not helping you get results. Your basically shooting blanks against a red bulls eye target and its a waste of time. It’s not your fault as I use to do the same thing until I took the time to study and learn the formula of generating leads with video marketing.

I am sure you noticed by now through internet marketing that video is powerful. Through creating videos of information that holds value to share with your viewers is what converts a op-tin to a lead. But, some network marketers who are new to video marketing end up failing to understand how to record videos and don’t follow the formula.

Let’s start with the #1 video marketing platform YouTube is where the majority of video marketing traffic is coming from so if you put your focus into the video you are creating for that audience you are going to start attracting the right quality type of leads.

Here are some facts to know:

  • YouTube is owned by the search engine Google.

  • YouTube is considered the number two search engine right behind Google (people want video answers!)

  • YouTube has it’s own sharing portal to easily share through social networking.

  • Overall average of time spent on watching videos is 15 minutes per day.

  • YouTube mobile gets over 100 million views per day!

  • YouTube is responsible for changing the game with small businesses, network marketing and MLM.

  • Now that we know the facts of why you should be focused on creating more videos here is the formula to follow before uploading your next video.

Video Marketing Strategy 2013 | Formula For Video Marketing

1. Video SEO Optimization ~ Before uploading or pressing the record button on your smart phone or webcam you must first do your “Keyword” research. It makes

sense to keyword video titles based on the most searched keywords people are searching for online in Google. What I use and recommend for beginners is free and

available online a tool known as Google Keyword Tool.

2. Video Has Value ~ Create videos that is content rich with value. No one cares about how much or the facts of your expenses in the production of your product or

service. You want to answer your potential customer or leads questions and provide solutions to their problems. Toss in some bonus tips and strategies so you can

bring in even more value. Consistency and relevancy for video marketing is important, if you skip around and shoot videos at random then your not going to get the

results you want.

3. Video Aftermath ~ Unless you are a hollywood celebrity or singer who is uploading videos and has a enormous following your not going to get noticed. In order for

you to reach the top of Google with your YouTube Channel is to stand out from your competition doing the 3 steps and learning the fundementals of video

marketing.

Video Marketing Strategy 2013 | How To Make A Great Video

1. Plan ahead and write your script out for informational videos but if your ranting no script is needed.

2. Film your video with a white, black or nature outdoor background. Avoid crappy lighting it will come out horrible in your videos.

3. Brand your video.

4. Keep your video under 3 minutes.

5. Include the keyword in the video, in the title, and in the description but don’t have it look spammy let it flow.

6. Avoid long boring titles and headlines.

7. Use a microphone or headset but not webcam audio because it will sound choppy.

8. Give a call to action.

I trust this information will help your Video Marketing Strategy 2013 go to the next level.

See you on the next post, take care.

Increase Local Website Traffic

Increase Local Website Traffic

Local Internet Marketing

Local Optimization

Local search is any search aimed at finding something within a specific geographic area. It is the consumer seeking information online with the intention of making a transaction offline. These results are usually located towards the top of Google with the letters A-G located next to them. This section is considered by many to be the phone book of today. This is a must for all business yet much more effective for a brick and mortar business.

Organic Optimization

An organic search is a type of search that generates natural results that were not paid advertisements. Many customers feel that these results are a more accurate reflection of what they might want when searching for a specific phrase, because of their relevance to the search terms. The intention of the consumer using the organic search results is that of doing more research for relevant websites tailored to their search terms for shopping, finding information, to verify credibility, or almost anything else that you could possibly want to find out more about. The biggest advantage of Organic Search as opposed to Local Search is the use of optimizing the website under multiple search terms (local is limited to 5) and not being confined to your

geographic area.

How To Keep Your Customers After The Holidays [PART 2]

How To Keep Your Customers After The Holidays [PART 2]

It happens all too often at this time of the year: eCommerce store owners get whipped into a frenzy, trying to get everything ready for the holiday season. A list of questions races through their heads.
Are my holiday promotion emails written? Does my drop shipper have everything in stock? Are my ad campaigns (Google, Facebook, Yahoo, Retargeting, etc.) set up and ready for the holidays? Do I have enough customer support? The list of questions goes on — I know because I am one of those store owners right now.

2
h

With all the madness of the holiday season it can be easy to overlook possibly the biggest opportunity that comes with the holiday sales rush: The opportunity to turn your new holiday customers into repeat customers down the road.
Setting your store up for repeat business is one of the easiest ways to increase your bottom line. In the 1-month period shown in the image below, more than half of our visitors to that site (13,601) are returning visitors (people who visited the site at some point before the selected time period).
These returning visitors generated 56% of the revenue for that month. That means that over half of the revenue that month came from people who engaged with us sometime in the month (or months) prior.

So, how are we doing it? And how do you get your customers to come back, engage with you again, and purchase your products month after month?
Here are 2 more strategies you can use to increase repeat engagement (Check out last week’s post for the first two strategies):
#3: Set up an automated follow-up email that goes out after the product has arrived.
If your goal is to have your customers want to do business with you again in the future, make sure they to feel really well taken care of the first time around. An easy way to accomplish this is to send a “How’s it going” email after they have received your product.
The email should communicate something like this:
“Hey, John from yoursite.com here. We see that you’ve had your product a few days now and we want to make sure that everything is going okay with it. If you need anything or have any questions, here is where you can reach us. Etc etc”
This email makes your customers feel good (and therefore think favorably of you) because it shows that your company cares about their experience. It shows that you want to make sure that they are happy with their purchase and that if there is anything they need related to the transaction, you want to help.
Any merchant sending out a receipt and tracking number but not following up after the product has been received is missing a valuable opportunity to connect with customers. Plus, this is an excellent time to ask for a product review.
#4 Do A Non-Product Related Weekly Blog Post
This is the secret sauce. The above 3 strategies aim to ensure your customer has a positive experience with you the first time around and has a discount incentive to shop with you again. Just implementing those 3 strategies will increase your repeat business, but this fourth strategy really brings the noise.
So what is a non-product related weekly blog post? It’s a piece of content (video, audio, text, image, etc.) centered on something other than your products and the offerings of your store.
Most eCommerce stores serve a function of convenience but not significance for their customers: the store is a convenient interface for getting a product, but the store itself has no intrinsic significance. By providing content related to things other than your products, your brand gains significance in the eyes of your customer.
You are no longer the place they go only when they want to buy your product; you are also the place they go when they want to engage with other similar people or consume interesting content. And the more time your customers spend engaging with your brand about the things that matter to them, the more likely they are to remember your products and buy them again.
So, the key to repeat business is to engage with your community of customers (and their friends – we will do entire blog post on this particular topic) in conversations that are relevant to their lives.
By producing a piece of content each week (and sharing with your customers via email and all relevant social profiles) you are getting face time with your community each week, staying present in their lives, and NOT trying to sell them anything. (You’re also building a helluva lot of good will!) You become a fixture in the digital lives of your customers when, as they are going about their internet routines, you pop up with something relevant and useful.
Doing this consistently (but not obnoxiously) takes you from the “faceless-store” category to the “trustworthy brand” category in the minds of your customers. All of this results in customers who like you, trust you, and buy from you again when make offers in the future. And as an added bonus, your customers will begin sharing your content with their friends, which means your brand reaches new people via the holy grail of traffic methods: personal endorsement.
Since we’ve been using this weekly branding strategy, we’ve seen the response to our promotional/sales emails jump by 200%. This is one of the most powerful (and most often overlooked) ways to find growth in your business.
Now is a great time to start! Produce a video or two, write a blog post, and get them out there this month while everyone has their attention on your store for the holidays. Also, be on the lookout for other ways you can do this.
Takeaway
If you want your store to be around for a while, you must look beyond the point of sale. By creating relationships with your customers you can become a trusted source of information about the products you offer as well as related topics of interest. Broadening the scope of your interaction with your customers increases the significance your brand takes on their lives—and that makes the decision to buy from you instead of some other faceless store an easy one.

How To Keep Your Customers After The Holidays [PART 1]

How To Keep Your Customers After The Holidays [PART 1]

It happens all too often at this time of the year: eCommerce store owners get whipped into a frenzy trying to get everything ready for the holiday season.
A list of questions races through their heads. Are my holiday promotion emails written? Does my drop shipper have everything in stock? Are my ad campaigns (Google, Facebook, Yahoo, Retargeting, etc.) set up and ready for the holidays? Do I have enough customer support?

So, how are we doing it? And how do you get your customers to come back, engage with you again, and purchase your products month after month?
Here are 2 strategies you can use to increase repeat engagement (HINT: Check the DM Blog for 2 more strategies next week):
#1: Introduce your customers to someone from your brand or company.
A good post-purchase customer retention/branding strategy should start immediately after the purchase.
Add a video on your Thank You page, and below it place a Facebook “like” box for your company. In the video, thank your customer for purchasing, and also encourage them to join your community on Facebook.
We are finding that roughly 50% of people will like a fan page straight from the Thank You page post purchase. And when you get your customers involved in your Facebook community, you’ll have the opportunity to share things of interest with them (we’ll get to that strategy later). Example:

#2: Include a package insert with your shipment.
If you are warehousing & shipping your own products this is a bit easier to pull off. That said, I have yet to run into a drop shipper who wouldn’t include a slip of paper along with all orders going out. Here are the main elements you should include on the insert:
a) Discount coupon for future order, with encouragement to share that coupon with friends.
b) Invitation to join your Facebook community by liking your company’s Facebook page.
c) A heads-up that you will be emailing them with content other than sales promotions (more on this in step 4).
The insert can be a simple piece of paper, a post card, or whatever you want. If you are going the post card route, we’ve found http://www.clubflyers.com to be a good low-priced printing service.
Set up a special coupon code that you only use on the inserts so that you can track the usage.

Yelp Help and "The Never-ending Story" of Local SEO Strategies A SPN Exclusive Article By Samantha Walt (c) 2012

Yelp Help and "The Never-ending Story" of Local SEO Strategies
A SPN Exclusive Article By Samantha Walt (c) 2012

After assistant professor Michael Luca demonstrated in his Harvard Business School Working Paper the effect Yelp reviews have on restaurant goers, many small business owners nationwide are now trying to employ their own 'Yelp Strategies.' Although Luca states the success a restaurant can have with good reviews, other small businesses do not have the same volume of reviews and thus it's difficult to agree or disagree with his conclusion. Regardless of Luca's concluding remarks, it is undeniable the impact a local SEO strategy can have for a company. With or without reviews, having a comprehensive local strategy can take you from zero to sixty in a day's work. Below, I discuss the ins and outs of dealing with Yelp and other major sites plus a look at the evolution of local listings and mobile apps.

Say what? Yelp?

Even though Yelp has made recent news, many people still have no idea what it is or, why it matters. For a quick background: Yelp, founded in 2004, is a local search engine where anyone can write a review about local services, goods, and businesses. With an average of 66 million new visitors, and 25 million local reviews written, Yelp is a premier review site. Yelp offers local business a free listing on their site with a no-follow link to a website of their choosing.

Great I filled everything out, but what about reviews?

The hardest part about doing a complete local SEO strategy is getting those reviews. On Google, the more reviews you have the higher your ranking is in Google Places. On Yelp positive reviews and higher 'star levels' result in more revenue for your business (Luca, 2012). Then again, negative reviews can result in a loss of revenue. One bad review online can affect your business for years to come but a lot of good reviews can usually outweigh the bad.

Actually getting the reviews is a whole other problem. To get a customer to review your company often means that you have to get them to think about your company outside of doing business with you. Some useful strategies to get them to care about your bottom line and stop thinking about themselves is to deliver exceptional service and remind them frequently of your existence with Facebook updates, emails, coupons, and candy canes. You can also use your local listings pages to encourage reviewing by providing links to your company site that promise positive reviewers future discounts.

Whoa! Submissions and reviews are done, but am I?

Since you are on this site chances are you have realized that SEO isn't ever done. Every day, new information is popping up about how to better optimize your site, blog, and even local listings. Having read and heard nearly everything I can find on local listings, especially Google Places, I would say I know a lot, but it doesn't ever stop. My best local listing advice is, make sure that your business is available on every site, especially ones with mobile capabilities. If you have a store front of any sort, make sure the people walking and driving in your area can find you via mobile or GPS devices. Do research on the most popular applications (apps) and make sure that your business comes up when searched. If you haven't tried it out don't worry, I have.

While writing this article I wanted to prove to myself the importance of mobile devices on local listings. Knowing Foursquare is huge I decided to test them out. I came across not only Foursquare's app, which has some 15 million purchases, but that of 10 other related apps. Most for free, each app claims to help you find 'cool' things and places based on your location. Oh and by the way, Yelp has a free application also. Apps for local business are replacing major search engines. Make sure you can be found on such apps and do not forget to make sure that your website is also mobile capable. The world is going mobile people, don't be the last to know.

Bottom Line (as I give my clients):

Have a local SEO strategy that has consistent information on each local listing site. Don't forget Luca's research and grow your testimonials online - it will help. Finally, go mobile via apps and your website. If you ever doubt the mobile revolution, just talk to my buddy Jed Alpert of Mobile Commons, a leader in the mobile evolution world, and he will tell you. Like I said above, there is always new information sprouting up about local SEO strategies, make sure you know what they are; it's fun!
